I'm VERY interested in attending grad school. I spent a year in community college 10 years ago (which I'm assuming grad schools will disregard). However, I've also spent the last year there. Now I'm transfering to a 4-year Uni. I'm considering a major that once I'm at the grad level will require knowledge of 4 languages and give preference to students who have gained "atleast" 2 of those during undergrad. I've been looking, and if I'm willing to spend 5 more years (a total of 6) I would be able to gain all 4 languages and spend a year in a study abroad program devoted to that major. Is 2 years over the normal timeframe acceptable if the student uses that time to gain experiences necessary to the field, shows that they know the direction they want to take, takes a strong course load (ie 16-18 cr/semester), gets good grades, and ends up with a thesis and honors?

Because if it's not I've got some major refiguring to do before I meet with my advisor at orientation :-p
