i'm a freshman and i'm thinking about studying abroad during college as a computer science major.. So when do you guys think it's the best time to study abroad? freshman year? sophomore year? junior year? or senior year?

Some schools require that you are at least a junior to study abroad.

Personally, any time between second semester of sophomore year and first semester of senior year is a good time to study abroad. But the best time, in my opinion, is junior year.

I’m pretty sure most people do it junior year. It’s almost expected for second semester juniors to go abroad at my school.

I did my study abroad the summer between freshmen and sophomore year. For me, it was a perfect time because the courses offered were typically 2nd/3rd year classes and it freed up my sophomore year to take classes for my other degree. I am also glad I went that early because it allowed me to figure out very quickly how to apply the skills I’m learning in my program to the real world. I can’t really describe it.

Ideally, I think the summer between sophomore and junior year is perfect.
