When is the UA application considered done?

DS sent in the application last week. He got an email stating the application was accepted. The ACT scores were sent.

Now he is working on the scholarship ap.

When he submits that, is the application process finished? His guidance couselor won’t send the transcripts until the application is “finished.”

Just trying to figure out the process. Thanks.

The applications is finished once the app was submitted; once they receive the transcript and test scores, they will accept him. Scholarship app is separate from the actual application for admissions and he can submit that after he is accepted… in other words, he’s already “done”.

His app is done. The GC can send the transcript.

BTW…when you say that he’s working on the scholarship app, it shouldn’t take very long. Tell him to not to worry about listing every EC and award.

Thanks, I already told him that. He is not a writer. :)

She had been notified that he sent the application and the transcripts needed to be sent. When he went in and asked her if they had been sent, that is when she told him he needed to “finish” it first.

I will go and call he again about sending them in. It gets frustrating having to constantly verify everything, is this common?

It is quite common to have to chase guidance counselors. In their defense, they are often dealing w/ 100s of students…and some can get quite anal about students following exact protocols in order that they (GCs) can keep on top of whatever paper shuffle ‘system’ they have in place. Our school will never release an official transcript directly to the student, for example (despite it being sealed and marked ‘official’ and signature-signed across the flap), so applying to outside scholarships was particularly challenging when an official transcript is needed to be sent along with other parts of the student’s application. Students have to bring in everything to the school and have THEM send the completed applications off. Who knows if everything gets sent or not…

If your student is already 18, expect more headaches, because GCs (in most states/districts anyway) will then only deal w/ the student on transcripts and records, never the parent.
