When should you fill out the FAFSA and the CSS?

<p>When's the earliest you can apply for aid via either of these? I want to try and apply as early as possible.</p>

<p>CSS comes out October 1st. FAFSA comes out in January.</p>

<p>^ is there a way to input this year’s data to get a forecast of next year’s EFC for a high school rising Sr.?</p>

<p>I did tried this one: [FinAid</a> | Calculators | QuickEFC](<a href=“Your Guide for College Financial Aid - Finaid”>Quick EFC - Finaid) but don’t know if it is known to be reasonably accurate.</p>

<p>The FAFSA website has a thing called FAFSA4caster that you can use. </p>

<p>As far as I know the new formula for next year’s FAFSA has not been developed yet but the forecaster should give you a reasonable idea.</p>
