Hello I have a quick question. When should you ask a teacher for a recommendation in comparison with your college application. Should you wait till your done filling out all of your applications and submitted them before asking for recommendations. I'm just wondering because what happens if your teacher writes and sends the recommendation before you submit your application and they just get some random recommendation and the college has no idea who you are haha.

ASAP so they have time to write a glowing recommendation :P Plus they're much less inclined to do that if you give them less than a week to write.

spring of junior year (I am a high school teacher)

Um...ask as soon as possible.

You're not really too late. If your apps are due at the beginning of January and you hurry up and ask teachers for recs now, then they will really have almost 3 months to write them, which, in most cases, is enough time.

It would be most polite to ask early (i.e. last year or earlier in August/September), but don't fret about it now. Answers like "last month" aren't really helpful anymore. Just get on top of it quickly. If teachers' rec letters arrive before your application, the college will still create a new file for you.
