So I’m trying to apply to a few schools EA with deadlines of November 1st. I just sent in my test scores today or yesterday for these schools, some of which I have not finished the actual application for yet. Is it still possible for these scores to get in by the November 1st deadline, or did I wait too long to send scores? I’m not particularly worried about getting into these colleges since most are fits/safeties, but I’m a bit worried about possibilities of honor college acceptance now. I applied to the following schools this way.
Northeastern
Penn State
Pitt (as of right now the application isn’t complete but I sent in the order for my test forms.
For reference, I have a 35 ACT with a 4.35 GPA.
Also my guidance counselor has yet to send out transcripts to any of my EA colleges, even those I did weeks ago. I’ve been asking him but so far nothing. I don’t think these will take like a week to send, but I could be wrong?
It really does depend on the school. I believe that even though the scores are sent the school has to retrieve them and some do that every day and some schools once a week. Once my son sent the Common App he received an email with instructions to sign into each schools student portal. Some schools showed the “received” test date as when he sent them in early October. Some showed the “received” date as a few days and some even 7-10 days after submitting the application. I think you’ll be fine just make sure you follow up once you apply.
Northestern accepts test scores, including even the Nov SAT, for EA as long as the scores arrive by Dec 1, so yours will undoubtedly arrive in time. You also have some leeway with the transcript but I would make sure the counselor knows you are applying with a Nov 1 EA deadline.
Penn State requires official scores and academic record to be provided to it by the EA deadline. Your test scores may or may not arrive in time but more likely will. CB sends scores these days by simply putting them into an online account the college has with CB and thus sending and official receipt occur simultaneously; the issue becomes simply how fast CB does that after receiving an order to send scores and it isusually within a week. As to transcript, I am not sure why you are trying to send one to Penn State. It allows self-reporting of classes and grades as part of the application and thus you do not need to send any transcript until after you are accepted and decide to attend. The form for it is referred to as SRAR which stands for Self-Reported Academic Record and you should look for it on Penn State’s site.
Pitt is a rolling admissions college in that it makes decisions as completed applications are received. The Nov 1 deadline applies only for honors consideration and for that you need to get everything in by Nov 1. It also wants you to use SRAR to report grades and the transcript is not required. Your situation with it for its honors consideration is the same as Penn State for EA, the test score might arrive in time and you should skip the counselor and do SRAR.
