This November will either be the greatest or the worst month of my life. I'm losing sleep and I don't know how much longer I can deal with this uncertainty. Do any UGA students have some insight on when I will find out whether or not I have been accepted?

Last year it was right before Thanksgiving, but they said we would find out earlier this year. My guess would be that they’ll post it in 2ish weeks

It was the Friday before Thanksgiving last year, but they have reminded applicants repeatedly that they are working with a new system and it may take longer. Keep checking the UGA Admissions blog–they always post there when they lock down the MyStatus page so they can begin posting admissions. They almost always post on a Friday–probably to cut down on the phone calls they receive while people are still upset, but I suppose they could do it on the day before the Thanksgiving break as well.

So chances are EA applicants will find out before December 15th?

I suspect so, but keep an eye on the Admissions blog. Last year he posted “turning off My Status in preparation for posting admissions results” on November 9, then results came November 16. It’s hard to know how much slower the results will come since the staff is dealing with a new system, but I think you’ll get a week’s notice. They seem to be empathetic with the thousands of families that are on the edge of their seats waiting for the results, but I’m sure they’d rather get it right and glitch-free than announce it early.

Someone told me we will find out Nov. 22nd

I’m not at all sure if this is accurate, but everyone at my school is counting down to the 22nd. Hope we find out soon! I can’t wait!

I think that’s a reasoned guess, not a fact. The Friday before Thanksgiving is an attractive target date for a lot of reasons, but with a new system, I suspect they are being extra careful about promising more than they deliver.

I have three applicants at my house this year, so we are fretfully waiting to hear. A split decision is going to be tough!

Not to add to the anxiety, but everyone should know by Thanksgiving.

From UGA.

Thank you for your interest in the University of Georgia. The Office of Admissions has temporarily disabled the Online Status Check (replace Counselor Portal) in preparation of the release of Early Action admission decisions.

Please continue to check back to this site for updates. We anticipate release of First-Year Early Action admissions decisions no later than Wednesday, November 27th.

Good luck

The head of admissions posts on his blog that they like to post admissions on a Friday to give them a breather before having to respond to deferred/denied applicants, but it’s not a requirement. At least we know they’ve started the process!

DECISIONS WILL COME OUT TOMORROW

“late afternoon”

every year prior it’s been at 4 o’clock exactly

GO DAWGS

Yes, very exciting - fireworks going off on your account. One thing that did surprise us is that my son had an additional scholarship added to his account which is not one you apply for, it just showed up and that was a sweet surprise.
