If you don’t take subject tests, don’t waste your time with Ivies. They say “optional” but they don’t really mean that. That’s there for certain high schools / demographics that don’t know about subject tests and / or can’t afford them. As another poster put it, the Ivies reject 90% of exceptional applicants. You need a combination of outstanding stats and unusual, very interesting ECs (and of course LORs, essays, etc.) Not worth the time or money at this point.
The good news is you have many excellent, realistic schools on your list Best of luck.
Congrats on your great choices so far! I’m not so secretly hoping you choose Colorado College…
Feel free to PM if you have any questions about CC as my own D18 is heading there in fall (class of 2022 as well) and I’m an alum so would love answer any questions if you are looking for more insight
Hey all, I got into Northeastern w/ 30k merit & FA, and am still waiting on Smith & Wellesley! I’m currently leaning more towards UMass & Northeastern at the moment, but we’ll see…
If the money works out and the private schools are affordable, I would pick them over UMass, but that’s just me. At a place like Colorado College for example the class sizes would be so much smaller, and you would really get to know your professors. If you want to stay in MA and Northeastern is affordable, I would choose that over UMass. Congratulations!!!
Update: Waitlisted @ Wellesley (I accepted the spot) and waiting on Smith. Should I send a letter of continued interest to Wellesley and if so what should I write/send? I think among many reasons the main reason I was waitlisted was due to my abnormally low grade in AP Physics for semester 1 (79–so close to an 80!) .
