Where are Bing students from?

What are the estimated percentages? I guess you could break it down as follows:

1) NYC Metro (Long Island, five boroughs of NYC, Westchester and Rockland)

2) "Upstate" (the rest of New York State).

3) Out of state.

Now for extra credit, how would you breakdown the NYC Metro contingent:

1) Long Island

2) NYC

3) Westchester/Rockland

Just curious. Thanks!

50% NY Metro Area
25% “Upstate”
20% OOS
5% International

And of that 50%:

50% Long Island
25% NYC
25% Westchester

I’m from LI, FYI.

see pie chart bottom of page 1 – http://www2.binghamton.edu/admissions/pdf/premier-public.pdf

According to a press release I found from August 2010, this year’s freshman class breaks down as follows:
7%-Broome/Tioga Counties (ie, local)
30%-upstate
22%-Long Island
19%-NYC
10%-International
Which leaves 12% OOS; no way is it 20%.

I was estimating based on my own observations… I know a LOT of OOS, so that why my estimation was rather high.

wow 10% international. that’s quite high

I know this thread is a bit old, but I thought I’d update it. According to materials we received at an admitted students dinner last week, the geographics (July 2010) are as follows:
Upstate NY: 21%
Long Island: 25%
NYC: 22%
Westchester/Rockland: 7%
Out of state: 16%
International: 9%

Sounds interesting! I’m from NYC myself
