I was recently given an award from the local rotary club near me. This award is given to the high school student that exemplifies active contribution to the community through academics, extracurriculars, etc. (mainly community service however). This is a very important award to me because it sort of acknowledges that I have a positive impact on the community around me. I wanted to put this award in the “Education - Honors” section, but it is mostly based on community service and not academic achievement. So is there anywhere I can put this on my app?
Thank you!
Is there a specific community service that contributed to getting that award? If so, I would put it in the activities section and categorize it as Community Service (Volunteer). I would then explain in the description how you also received the award through that activity.
“The award is based on the ten marks of a good citizen, as listed by Rotary International. These include being aware of local and world affairs, being courteous, unselfish, sincere, productive, a good example for other youth in the community and takes an active leadership role in school.” It isn’t really based on one activity, but they specifically noted that I did a lot of community service, which I assume is why I got the award.
@daveliu
You can put it in additional information if you want to include a slightly longer description that the boxes allow. Not an essay or anything, but a concise description. They read your whole application, it doesn’t matter too much where it is as long as you include it somewhere.
Thanks @intparent I didn’t really think about it that way, but I suppose you are right. As long as it gets on my app somewhere, it will hopefully get read
