Where can my daughter go with these scores now?

My DD was a straight A student in IB curriculum until her second semester of junior year where she got 3 B's and an F on an a virtual school online AP course. She is retaking the course this summer for grade forgiveness. She got a 2300 on SAT and 36 the first time on ACT. She always wanted to do accelerated medical programs like the 6 year or the 7 year medical programs. Or she wanted to apply for IVY League. Now will those B's and that F which she is going to replace give her any chance for her dreams...

Her extracurriculars are pretty good with

10 years of Indian classical dance
3 years of varsity tennis

2 summers as Junior Intern and currently a mentor in the Junior Intern program with the VA hospital

Member of Mayors Youth Corps and a Member of Mayors Youth Leadership Council

1 year with the city tv station as a member in the crew of the "From the Corps" TV show

President of Model United Nations

Please advise. Thanks

Other than the hospital volunteering, there aren’t many medical ECs. Also, what made her get the F?

Other than the hospital volunteering, there aren’t many medical ECs. That will probably hurt her with the 6/7 yr med programs. Also, what made her get the F?

She is currently an intern at a lab doing cancer cell research.

She had health problem and she was not able to keep up with the online course not completing it which gave her an F.

I have commented on another post, and I will comment again. Your daughter will be fine. She should be able to get into any state school in your current state of residence, which is great. If she is looking for higher level schools, such as Stanford, MIT, CalTech, or the Ivy’s, I think she still has a fair shot at those schools. My reason? She is, of course, an Indian female who has performed fabulously on college readiness exams and has devoted time to research and other extracurriculars. I hope this helps!

There is a place on the Common App where I believe you can explain things like the health problem and the F. I think they will excuse that F, especially with your daughter’s other statistics.

Thanks again Leo2400. You have eased my worries somewhat.
