Where could I get a full ride with a 2080?

That was an excellent post, and I will research those schools. I will also take any other suggestions into strong consideration, regardless of geographic location. Thanks

hmom5, thank you, I was just about to touch on that as well. I am doing this search to provide myself with options other than community college, should I be found in such a situation after decisions come.

i’d say consider large wealthy universities, maybe USC? they also have scholarships that you’re automatically considered for if you write a killer essay. My friend also got very generous financial aid from there and even his family’s income was higher than yours.

also, don’t automatically cross out wealthy ivies (all of them) off your list. You can still apply ED and if the financial aid doesn’t work out (you don’t get a full ride) you can get out of it quite easily in your situation.

What’s your class rank?

Go to Google and type in “Baylor University Financial Aid Calculator.”

nooob: yes, USC is one school I am applying to. I’ll see what they offer me but USC doesn’t really count as a guaranteed safety / full scholarship.

wittwonka: I don’t know yet but at least top 10%, maybe even top 5%. and Baylor is too small for the big safety I’m looking form, but thanks

Thanks everyone for the posts so far. Again, I’m looking for just one big school where I would be almost certainly guaranteed with a full ride, especially if based on SAT scores, with clear cutoff numbers and such.

It’s too bad you don’t live in Georgia.

Would I be guaranteed a full ride if I lived in GA?

All in-state students at UGA don’t pay tuition. Well, if they graduated from high school with a 3.0. And you wouldn’t be at UGA if you didn’t graduate with a 3.0.

Wow, you’re right. Apparently, they’re using lottery receipts to help fund it; it’s a brilliant idea. But yea, too bad I don’t live in Georgia.

Forgot to mention University of Arkansas Honors College fellowships.

Your match school for financial aid is probably the best state school in-state (though some could potentially be reaches for admissions). From my experience, there are a lot more scholarships out there for in-state than OSS. Example: if you were an arizona resident, you’d be eligible for the Barack Obama President’s Scholarship (This is something new, so I’m not sure that it works for OSS. If it does, good for you). This guaruntees pretty much that high-achieving students will have their need met (it meant a tuition hike for everyone else).

But basically, you need to have your one in-state school that’s your safety, then you can apply to “match” schools (like OSS or USC-type schools), where aid isn’t guarunteed even if you get in, and apply to a few reaches, that may or may not be likely to meet your need, but that if they came up with the funds, you’d definitely go to.

Thank you. Since my family is still unsure about where we would move, I will wait until I actually belong to a state, haha. As soon as I know which state we’ll be living in, I’ll research that state’s public schools. However, I might run into issues involving state-residency, so I am still favoring any OOS guarantees as a more reliable bet.

Temple University.

With that income, you may want to look at prestigious university that meet full need. I think you can get in Boston College with those stats and be around 20-30K of debt by the time you graduate (which isn’t that bad, btw). Of course, you should always aim a bit higher.

I have researched the suggestions that have been given in this thread. Out of them, it seems I would only be guaranteed a full ride to the University of Alabama (Presidential Scholar) or Louisiana State University (Golden Oaks Award). These awards are formula-driven and are not based on any subjective factors.

Does anyone know of any other possibilities? Again, I am looking for a University that would guarantee me a full ride based solely on my 1410/2080 SAT.

EDIT: Actually, are these full rides guaranteed? I can’t tell.

http://www.lsu.edu/financialaid/schlqualifications.htm#Golden_Oaks_Awards

OP: I had almost the exact stats that you did applying to schools. I think you have great shot at the private schools that are in the top 20 like washU, NU, Emory, etc. They have plenty of financial aid to convince you to go there if you pay just a little bit. PM me if you want more advice from me.

OP: LSU’s Golden Oaks Award is guaranteed, and it comes with an on-campus job. You could also get into the LSU Honors College with those stats.

Good luck on your hunt!

^ thank you! Although, I just realized… I think it only covers tuition? Do any of these include room and board in the automatic award? I guess the job that LSU offers would cover that? (But then I have no pocket money lol)

collegeboundkorean: Thank you for the advice. Right now I’m just looking for a safety school with a guarantee. I’m definitely applying to some other top 20 schools where I could also get a “full ride” based on need-aid.

Hi llama…where did you wind up?

The Golden Oaks scholarship at LSU is full waiver of tuition and fees for out of state…and option for on campus chancellor’s job.

Golden Oaks does not pay r & b…

Macaulay Honors College at CUNY will give you full ride once you are accepted. (plus free MAC!)
