Where do I put a certification at a technical college in a college application?

I’m going to be a junior in high school next year and I am going to be doing a program at a local technical college as well. It will earn me my CNA (certified nursing assistant) certification and I was just wondering where I would mention that in a college application? I currently plan on pursuing my bachelors in nursing and feel it is important to mention.

Hi–The Common App has places to mention your certificate as part of some of the other questions. Each college also has a different set of things that you can upload. Some allow few uploads. Some allow many. So you could upload a resume (like a pdf of your resume) for some, and the resume would show your various accomplishments. Some colleges (or all? if it’s part of the Common App? You’d have to check on this as I’m writing this from memory) have a section that’s basically called: Other. Under OTHER you can list any other information you feel has been left off. Finally for many colleges they list on their website the email addresses of the Admissions Office and sometimes Admissions Officers. It’s okay to send your resume or a polite email to Admissions and explain to them this extra info. I’d keep it very short! In my limited experience, though some colleges say that they will not look at any additional information, some do. And in my somewhat limited experience (and I can’t speak for all colleges) some that limit information often place that email or info into your file. How that information is viewed is another issue and I suspect it depends on the individual looking at your application. However, it would be strange for an Admissions committee to get an important piece of information, whether positive or negative, and completely ignore it. My feeling is that a polite email, short in consideration of their busy schedules, can be okay to send. Best of luck to you
