Where do i Put "marriage" into the equation?

I was just thinking last night, if i go 4+4 with a 2 year residency and 2 year fellowship, id be around 30 by the time i start practicing my desired speciality. I kinda want to get married before im 30, but maybe im just thinking too much. I should be working on my english homework thats due next period....

When do most doctors get married?

Many doctors end up getting married during med school or residency. You’ll have time for things besides medicine.

Prob more than two years in residency, but yeah there’s time to get married. Medicine does not end your life, it just economizes it

i see. but i have a close family friend who just got married during may last year. She got married in the middle of med school and she’s supposed to be in residency now, but she’s not because she couldnt pass the USMLE. Im just worried ill end up like my friend: distracted, wasting money on med school but not practicing medicine…
As of now, shes still in med school and bout ready to have a baby

No such thing that I’m aware of here in the United States. Anticipate spending at least 3 years in residency.

Being unable to pass the USMLE is very, very, unusual for people enrolled in an American allopathic medical school. If your friend is an allopathic student in an American med school, she is a rare exception and you should not think that what happened to her will happen to you. I know a significant number of people who came into medical school married, or got married during medical school, and it has not prevented them from achieving great things.

^thanks for that. she actually went to med school in the caribbean (low MCAT score), so that made me feel better.

And that’s why she’s having trouble passing the boards. Just one of the many pitfalls of going to medical school in the Caribbean.
