Where do I stand?

Hello,

I am looking to apply to some universities in my senior year of high school, and I have a few questions.

My current GPA (as of the end of sophomore year) is a 4.0 weighted out of 4.3-4.5 (not sure which).

I currently take 7 IB courses, and one regular course, 4 of which are HLs and 3 SL. So in total 8 classes, 4 HL, 3 SL, 1 regular.

My grades have always been improving, and this quarter I got straight A’s. By the end of junior year, I expect to get one B at most. My SAT score is 1590.

I am president of my FBLA chapter, which is good because I look to go to a school for business. Also, I have 200+ hours of volunteer work for various organizations.

Any opinions on where I stand?

What is your unweighted GPA? Unweighted is a better indicator since no 2 HS’s weight classes the same. Your SAT score is excellent. Continue with your EC’s but depending upon where you plan to apply, you need something to stand out from the rest of the applicants.

I have no clue what my unweighted GPA is, to be honest. I can only see my weighted GPA. Do you think being president of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is good enough to stand out, if I also discuss my achievements while leading the chapter?

My guess is you probably stand in your house. If not sitting at that.

You definitely seem like you will be a great candidate! However, I do not think being FBLA president will make you stand out. Almost every school has that club, and though it is good to show admissions officers that you have interest, it probably won’t make a huge difference. However, you have great stats. Make sure to put your time into your essays!

" Do you think being president of FBLA is good enough to stand out?" Since you mention Ivies in another thread, sorry, but no. Go read upon what some top colleges expect.

Are you international?
