where do the NMFs go?

Where have the NMF's from your school gone?

UF...they get lots of money

The NM Scholars are going to Princeton and Harvard.
I don't know who out of the NMSFs are Finalists, but I know that, of the semi-finalists....
2 to NYU
1 to Lafayette
1 to Brown
1 to Vassar
1 to Wharton

and I don't remember the other semi-finalists. I know Brown, Vassar, and Lafayette were also finalists, though.

Nationwide, the top 10 universities attracting National Merit Scholarship winners followed by the number of recruited/enrolled scholars:

Harvard University -- 312

University of Florida -- 259

University of Texas -- 242

Yale University -- 224

Stanford University -- 217

University of Chicago -- 198

Washington University at St. Louis -- 197

Princeton University -- 192

University of Southern California -- 183

University of Oklahoma-- 170

what year was that for? Also, i think the number of national achievement scholars is high for harvard as well.

Out of the 12 at my daughter's school who are NMF, they will be attending Princeton, Rice, Carleton, Southwestern, Texas, Missouri, and I don't know where else.

most at my school's students attended state university with almost full scholarship

The NMFs from my town generally pick state schools that offer a full ride: Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Tulsa.

Others chose colleges that offer limited scholarships: Dartmouth, Harvard, UT-Austin's Plan II Honors, Princeton, and Rice.

I think there was like two at my school

one is going to U of Mich

and the other got a half ride to Wash at St. Louis

There were 7 at my son's school:
Sewanee
Texas A & M
Rice (ED)
Rice (another ED)
Virginia (Jefferson Scholar)
LSU
Southwestern (Texas)

For our year, we had three NMF's who are going to:
Davidson, Stevens, and NCState
and out three commended students are going to:
Duke, Tufts, and CCM

the NMF at my school is going to Duke

The only three I know of:

UC Berkeley
U Miami
UT Austin

This is a suburban Texan high school known for sending high achievers to UT.

from my school, they usually go to:

Tulane
Yale
Prineton
Harvard
Swathmore
Dartmouth
Penn
UNC-Chapel Hill
Vanderbilt
LSU

Rice.

Rice has just about the largest percentage of the class being NMF's. Not sure if it is the absolute highest though. They come here due to the generous merit aid.

stanford, wharton, various uc's, northwestern, caltech

this year's NMF from my school is going to MSU

how big of a draw is NMF? because I will probably qualify (I got a 220 in ohio). I see that only 16% of the freshman class at chicago (where I'd like to go) are NMF. Is it something they really consider?

a little bump
