BTW… Re: Oct 10th app deadline. I just realized that the October SAT is only a few days before that. We will never have her scores by the 10th. We are trying to ensure she gets a confirming score, and we need that last SAT to help make it happen. How does that work time wise?
@Finndu2000 The SAT score doesn’t have to be in until the first of January I believe from our experience last year. Just make sure you send your score to the national Merit Folks.
Has anyone stumbled across a list for Massachusetts? TIA
I also called National Merit and they couldn’t have been nicer. My son hasn’t been notified, there’s nothing in the press about our state, and they were even able to tell me that his school hasn’t logged in to their database to see if anyone made the cut.
The school administration should have a book with the list of semifinalists.
Thank you so much Mathlobstermom for posting Montgomery county maryland list !!! It was such a exclusive list which was not made available to so fr yet.
@Finndu2000 One of the pieces of paperwork I saw from the NMSC said Semi-Finalists can take the SAT as late as the Dec 1st date, but they “urge you to take the SAT no later than November 3rd. Semifinalists who have not submitted SAT scores by [Dec 31st] will not be considered for the National Merit $2500 Scholarship.” January 31st is the late date to submit SAT scores and other documentation required for Finalist consideration. (I’m assuming that is for high schools who have kids whose GPAs have dropped in the first semester of senior year. Because Oct 10th is the deadline for applications.)
Thank you!
Here is Loudon County, Virginia

@Reebtoor yes, his selection index was more than 20 points over the Compass site’s cutoffs (which are now updated to show no change from 2018 cutoffs). His percentile is higher than his sister’s (NMS recipient, old exam). We’re too confused to be disappointed at this point. Will see what I can find out from the Corp. next week.
@Finndu2000 go read the instructions for semi-finalists. They tell you exactly what your last date for taking the SAT is in the instructions and how to send your score.
@prairiejane I guess I’m confused on how your son’s SI could be more than 20 points over the cutoffs. The highest possible SI on the PSAT is 228. 228-20 = 208 → which is lower than the commended cutoff.
Unless you mean 2 points over (because there is a zero to drop from the PSAT scores)??
SI = EBRW Score*2 + Math
I literally had a heart attack when I didn’t see my name bc I’m North Jersey! But a few of the schools listed are nearby so I was scared

FULL New Jersey (im 95% it’s the full list so ignore the fact that it was posted on central jersey’s website)
Anyone have info for state of Maryland in general? I saw Montgomery County Public schools but I go to a private school.
Does any one know if the semifinalist cutoff scores published by the online sites are accurate (eg college compass)? If so, would a cutoff of 220 mean those with 220 and above qualify? Our city hasn’t published results yet. Thanks.
@yellowlab yes any one that make the cut off number or above.
kindablue. Bergen County not included on the New Jersey list.
@3boys4m3 It’s at the end of the article…which lists all of NJ. Look at those kids at Bergen Academies…just awesome!!
Does anyone know when high schools get notified that their students are semifinalists? Also, do we get an email from the National Merit Corporation that we are semifinalists or does the notification go to our school first?
