For those who got accepted? – are you committed to UNC? In what order would you put the universities you are considering (or did consider)? I would just be curious what some of the crossover schools are among us. Maybe a tidbit as to why/why not you ordered a particular school that way. Did you visit?
UNC - 99% sure; loved my visit. iconic college campus environment
University of Richmond - loved it, close second
UVA
Wake Forest
Davidson
Boston College
Georgetown
My son is accepted OOS and considering
Vanderbilt
Emory
Miami-OH
Alabama
The last 2 because of large merit scholarship awards. We don’t qualify for financial aid. Full pay OOS tuition at Chapel Hill is now 50K per year. I am an alum at UNC but don’t know if I can afford to see him there. Wish I was still in state.
UNC - haven’t visited but I’ve read only positive things about the school and the surrounding area. In addition, I want to become an investment banker and I know that Kenan-Flagler is a target for Charlotte firms and a semi-target for NYC firms, with plenty of alumni throughout the East Coast. If they give me enough money (at least 10k), I will definitely enroll without even visiting.
USC - on the same level as UNC, but on the wrong coast. I got accepted to the Leventhal School of Accounting. I know USC places well on the west coast for investment banking and accounting, but I would like to live on the east coast and I don’t think it has much of a rep there. I will attend if UNC doesn’t give me enough money (although both schools claim to meet full need).
Boston University - Affordable for me and strong in some fields. I like big cities (not LA tho) so I like its location over my first 2, but I know UNC and USC have stronger alumni networks and better job placement for business majors. WI’ll only attend if I can’t afford the first 2.
Fordham University - very nice campus and i LOVE NYC. Will cost me a little more than BU; however, if I go to college in NYC, I already have an internship lined up with a big marketing firm. My friend has a lot of good connections and I know I will have prime networking opportunities.
I also got full tuition scholarships to Temple University and Baruch College which make them very attractive to me.
