where I can actually get hired

I have a drug felony non-violent at age 18.

I keep changing my major at my state school. Im good at math/science but I want to pick a field where I can actually get hired. Are there any majors that would accept me if I had no arrests since?

It seems like you have been fed a lot of misinformation.

 • Declaring most majors at most schools is not a competitive process (some exceptions…)
 • Major committees don’t usually consider arrests. They care about your academic ability.
 • A major alone won’t get you hired, or even necessarily lead to jobs in a related field.

Pick something you like and do the best you can from now on. A felony arrest may keep you from getting a job at some places right out of school, but it will not ruin a career, regardless of profession. If you show that you can preform at a high level for several years, you will not have a problem getting a great job.

Goal, while your felony may somewhat bar you from some careers(law enforcement, certain security clearance jobs) you can certainly strive for others. No licensure boad can automatically deny you, however they will review your case. They will most likely give you a meeting to explain yourself. But the important thing is work hard and get good grades. Show them that you’ve changed since the incident. I’m in a similar position, however I haven’t been barred from anything because I’ve shown that I’ve become serious about my life.
