I know I'm not Ivy material but what schools should I apply for?
I was looking at CMU, Cornell, and U of M (backup) for U.S.
And UOIT and Waterloo for Canada

You say Waterloo and OIT are safeties but UMI is a match? I was under the impression that Waterloo was a very very good school in Canada. It was my first choice. I have to apply to U of M behind my parents’ backs because they think it’s not good enough for me (They think I’m perfect)

You do have great ACT and your URM does help for most schools. Otherwise, your GPA, course rigorous, and EC are not very competitive for top schools. You should still be a match for UMich.

For UMich computer science, you should try applying to LSA for a better chance. For CoE, you would be a high match to low reach due to your GPA. For LSA, you should be a match to high match. I don’t understand why you said it is a “backup” for you.

There is more than one U of M in the country (I know out here everyone thinks it is always Michigan, and so do I as a Michigan alum). But maybe the OP meant a different school… agree that U of Michigan is not generally a safety for anyone.

@ intparent,
I was thinking about that too. But I saw someone put UMI above, so I just follow up on that.
On the other hand, CMU may also means Central Michigan University which would be a low match/safety then. ;)

Note that the OP has responded to the chancing on UMI and it seems he/she indeed refers to UMich.
