Where should I be looking...

I'm leaning towards Chemistry, but possibly Chemical Engineering. I'd like to stay near the northeast.. NY (instate), NJ, PA, MA, etc..

97 GPA
Top 5-6% of class of ~650
ACT- 35
Math II 720, Chem 680, Bio M 680, Math I 670
EC's are decent, but nothing spectacular (a lot of volunteering stuff and some leadership, but none of those special Math/science awards/competitions =P)

I cant think of where to start looking. I don't really care if the school is big or small. My family may need some aid although they say they will pay for anything

I have a financial safety, SUNY Stony Brook, as well as one that is a match (Macaulay honors college at CUNY), which also can lead to a safety if I dont get into the honors program

Bump

10char

i would say like emory, vanderbilt, cmu, brandeis, tufts, wake forest, rochester, lehigh are some to look into

I suggest raising your SAT II scores to the 750+ range. For schools, look at Carnegie Mellon, MIT, and Cornell College of Engineering as reaches, even with that GPA and solid ACT.

^ I reeeally don’t want to retake the SAT IIs… I honestly don’t think I would be going up much, if at all.

Do I even have any shot at MIT? Obviously its a reach, but I was thinking that (along with like… Caltech) are out of my reach.

What would some Matches be? I have all these reaches and some safeties but no matches

i thought my suggestions were matches/low reaches

even if a schools a reach its worth applying too in my opinion because you never know! i thought i had no chance getting into some schools i ended up getting into! =]

Bucknell and Lehigh would be matches.

Maybe RPI.
