Where should I go?

Hi everyone!

My high school GPA is a 3.3 unweighted (3 C’s), and a 3.47 weighted. I scored a 32 the first time I took the ACT (34 on English, 34 on Math, 36 on Reading, and 26 on Science; 9 on Essay, 32 combined English/Writing) and a 33 the second time (34 on English, 33 on Math and Reading, 30 on Science; 9 on Essay, 32 combined English/Writing). I also took the SAT II Biology exam in which I scored a 720. I plan to take the SAT Math II and score around the same.

I played a sport throughout high school, with a varsity level in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. My ECs include aiding a special needs classroom as well as starting a competitive Mock Trial team at my high school. I did DECA in Freshman and Sophomore year.

I already have a few colleges in mind, but I’m really interested in any other programs I might have missed. I am considering applying for political science, economics, or engineering with the end goal being law school and government/policy. I want to eventually work for an organization like the United Nations in which I can make a global impact.

As of now, I’m looking at American University, Boston University, and George Washington.

If you can think of any programs, majors, or colleges I should consider, please let me know! Thank you so much.

What is your home state and what can your family afford?

Your goals seem like good ones.

Hobart & William Smith is strong across the political science subfields. USNWR reports their average HS GPA as 3.4. They do not have a direct engineering program, but neiher does American. Villanova would fit your current mix and implied preferences more directly.

As for what you should major in, you could reach your goals through at least a dozen choices, the most logical of which may simply be the one that interests you the most.
