Where to ED?

Should I ED to UPenn or Harvey Mudd for Computer Engineering?

I think those in the know will ask for some basic information. Search some chance threads to get an idea of the minimum information to provide. As your post stands, you should toss a coin.

I was wondering if employers look at one with more reverence.

@pl1k1 They are both excellent schools. You can’t make a bad choice. I would pick the one that is going to be a better fit for you.

I know a lot about CS at Penn, but not much about the hardware side. CS is very rigorous with great access to the top companies in Silicon Valley, NY, Seattle etc. I would think that Harvey Mudd can provide that too.

Here are links to the school’s pages:

The typical student at Penn will have broader interests than a student at a typical engineering schools. This stems from their natural curiosity. They may be interested in a second major or a minor or just in taking classes random classes in other schools.

Penn engineering majors are most likely to end up in technology or engineering jobs, but they are also heavily recruited by consulting firms and investment firms. It isn’t necessarily what they initially planned on, but it is always good to have options. Penn engineering majors last year reported receiving an average of 2.3 job offers.

You can look at the details of the companies, positions, and salaries Penn graduates accepted here:

Thanks @Much2learn

I can tell you more, if you have a specific question.

They are two very different schools. IMO nobody can or should answer this for you. If you don’t have a clear top choice, don’t apply anywhere ED.

ED is an option for those who are fully committed to attending the school as their clear 1st choice. If this describes either Penn or HM, apply there. If it describes neither, then don’t and apply RD to both. Give yourself a milestone date – if one really emerges in your mind and heart, apply. Maybe Oct 20. if not, skip ED.
