Where to go? (UNC - Chapel Hill or Vanderbilt)?

Hi guys, I have been admitted to UNC and Vanderbilt. As of now, I am not sure about where I will go next year. I am a sophomore right now and plan on majoring in Econ/Finance.

I want to do investment banking at a bulge bracket firm and later get my MBA from a M7 school.

Vanderbilt is ranked 17 and UNC is ranked 30 overall. That said, Vanderbilt does not have an undergrad business school while UNC's Kenan Flagler is ranked 7. Oh and the amount of financial aid that I am receiving is the same for both schools.

Thank you

I heard recruiting for banking at Vandy is lacking for a school of its caliber. I’m not sure about how well recruited Kenan Flagler is.

Vanderbilt is a semi-target for investment banking – lots of kids major in economics and minor in managerial studies

How can you already be admitted to these schools if you are only a sophomore???

I’m thinking the same thing as @mellon123 haha. I’m a sophomore too, am I missing something?

I think he is a transfer student.

I should have specified this but I am currently a sophomore at another college. I applied as a transfer student and was accepted to UNC and Vanderbilt.

Don’t pay too much attention to USNews; public schools tend to be slightly underrated. As far as prestige goes, they are roughly equal. I’m not a business student, but I can say that the big firms do recruit here. Albeit, it does tend to be regional (Atlanta, D.C., Miami). Of course, if you’re really driven, you can still end up in NYC, if that’s what you want.
