Where to visit in New York City and Boston?

I'm going to be in NYC and Boston in a four day period (I'll divide between those two depending on where I go in each). What colleges should I visit in each and why? thanks!

This is really hard to answer without some idea of your stats and interests.

The obvious answers: Harvard and MIT in Boston; Columbia in NYC. A notch lower on the selectivity scale are Tufts, Boston College, NYU, and–if you are a girl–Columbia’s lesser-known sister, Barnard. A notch below that you have Boston U, Northeastern (this one gives full tuition scholarships to NMFs), Fordham. And so on.

You really don’t have time to visit more than a couple of these, though, which is where a little information about you would help.

Boston:
H and M
Brandeis, Tufts, BU, BC, Northeastern

NY:
NYU
Columbia
Fordham

3.75 GPA 29 ACT

^Stalking this person because I was curious. They are quite reticent about their stats.

Boston Chances:
Tufts (High reach)
Brandeis (Reach)
BC (High match)
BU (Match)
Northeastern (Match)
Babson (Match)
UMass-Boston (Match or safety, depending on how kind they are to OOS. You’re above their 75th percentile of tests, though.)
Suffolk? (Low safety)

New York Chances
NYU (Low reach/high match)
Fordham (Match)
CUNY Brooklyn (Match or safety, same deal as UMass Boston)
CUNY Hunter (Match or safety, same deal as UMass Boston)
Hofstra, Pace, St. John’s

There are a whole lot of colleges in New York with a 75th percentile between 1700 and 1800 on the SAT. Your 29 is about a 1900. Now it’s 1:36. Good night and good luck.

I’m interested in Hunter, but they are a commuter school, and I didn’t want to lack a college community experience. Are the other CUNYs like that too, specifically Baruch and Brooklyn?

The entire CUNY system is primary designed for NYC residents and therefore most of the campuses will be for commuters.

The SUNY system is different and many of the campuses are highly residential, but none are in NYC. The closest major SUNY campus to NYC would be Stony Brook – 60 miles out on Long Island.

If you are interested in business/accounting, Pace might be an option as well.

You should also look into The New School and see if any of their programs are of interest to you.

Check out this link. It has information about the housing options and the CUNYs.
Got the tip from another user who said that CUNY Brooklyn was opening up new dorms.

For Baruch, they have a relatively new residence hall.
