They should go to Yale with Rory, she never seems to have to go to class and has plenty of time for trauma and drama.

And maybe if things don't work out with Marissa, Ryan can hook up with Lindsay again (assuming her plans worked out).

The rich white kids go to USC. The smart Asians go to UCLA or Berkeley. The rest go to weaker UC's and Calstates.

the sad part is that these stereotypes are actually mostly true.

or Irvine Valley College! I believe that's closer to Newport than the other two.

what is HYPS?

i think ryan may have the best potential going to a good school. they said in the pilot episode that he had phenomenal SAT scores and he started working really hard at school last season. plus he has that whole disadvantaged family thing going for him.

most of 'em are prob gonna get into USC because their parents will donate a building.

what about UCI? it's only 5 minutes away.

irvine valley college and the calstates are probably the most likely choices.

HYPS stands for Harvard Yale Princeton Stanford.

Seriously, UCI. The campus is right next to Newport (part of it is even technically in Newport). They could keep them all on the show. The director of the OC went to UCI too. They'd have to put more Asians on the show though...

haha if they go to UCI, they'll kinda be forced to show asians.

the main problem is that UCI isn't a very photogenic school. it's aesthetically pleasing, but theres not really any tradtional "university-ish" architecture. plus, would these guys really want to stay so close to home?

yea if they want traditional university architecture around the area, then it has got to be USC or UCLA. those two schools appear in a ton of movies featuring colleges anyway.

LOL but then again they can always film another school to stand in for the school they're really at.

I see seth and Ryan at USC .... marissa not at school and summer at UCLA

i dunno... ryan always stuck me as the smartest. summer doesn't really seem that smart. this is probably all relative though... they go to an elite prep school anyways.

I see them going to Hogwarts

I second tranman....

Marissa will fall in love with Harry and Hermoine. This will be the new plot twist.

Seriously... "I see them going to Hogwarts"... what was going through your head that made you think that was funny?

the already futile discussion of where the OC kids would be going to college.

Orange Coast College

That's actually where they film some of the show. And occassionally at Newport Harbor High School. A lot of it is actually shot in Malibu, though.

I guarantee at least 1 of them will go to SC. Probably Summer.

definitely USC cuz everyone on tv goes to a college thats known nationwide. oh i cant wait for thursdays episode!!

SC is absolutely HUUUUGE in Newport. Probably half of my neighborhood is related to SC in one way or another. My neighbors fly their SC flag 24/7/365 (366 on leapyears :) ). I can't go ANYWHERE without seeing SC windshield stickers, lisence plates--one guy who's kid goes to my school has a USC Dentistry lisensce plate with a vanity plate that says "BITE ON" ("Fight on, for old SC"...get it?). Besides, SC has a reputation for rich white kids. So I think it's REALLY likely somebody'll go to SC.

I don't think they'll go to UCI...it just doesn't have the same kind of reputation, despite being located like 20 minutes away.

I think they will all take a "gap year".............................

Made-up college that conveniently allows all of the drama and posing of college, not to mention the greatest dorm rooms you will ever see, but with none of the class requirements.

It's what many a TV show has done.

Rory went to Yale because Gilmore Girls had been name-dropping colleges since Day 1. Her whole thing was being smart, so I guess it sort of made sense. Whether she would've gotten into HYPS is a different debate altogether. The OC kids don't.

If anybody else watches Veronica Mars (excellent show), the creator said he's either sending the 12th grade title character to Stanford (which wouldn't require much suspension of disbelief), making up a college never before mentioned in the town, or coming back next year as though her 4 college years had already passed. I think the OC kids would certainly look more age-appropriate if the creator used the 3rd option.
