Which AP Spanish Test/Class should I take?

I am going to have a very hectic year next year, something that I admittedly am not yet used to, and it is something that will definitely take some adjustment. I’m planning on minoring or double-majoring in Spanish in college, and since I’m going to have a hectic year, I’m wondering what your thoughts are on the two different AP Spanish tests/classes, to help me chose which one to take
However, it is worth noting that my school only offers the class for AP Spanish 5, not Spanish Literature, but, I do slightly see this in the favor of literature, since my entire year is jam-packed. In other words, I would only self-study for the literature exam, as opposed to taking the class and the exam for Spanish 5. Also, depending on how my life is when it comes time to sign up for AP exams, in the case that I take AP Spanish 5, I definitely could back out of taking the exam for that course.
I would say I am a pretty decent at Spanish, but am not a native speaker.
Thoughts from people who have taken one or both? Also, would it reflect badly if I chose not to take an AP exam for something I plan on focusing on in college?

If the options are taking the AP Spanish Language class versus self studying for AP Spanish Lit, then my advice is to take the class. Colleges are not impressed by self study.

No, but if you did not take the class, it might raise an eyebrow.

If you wanted to be really adventurous, you could take AP Spanish Lang and self study AP Spanish Lit by reading the material on the reading list. If you are also taking AP English Lit, it would be helpful, as literary analysis techniques do not vary by language. They downside id that the reading list for AP Spanish Lit is very extensive.

If you want to major/minor in Spanish I would try very hard to make Spanish one of your classes and maybe change around another class.

@skieurope @bopper
Thank you both for your help. I’ve decided to take only AP Spanish Lang, and to take the exam this May.
