which class schedule is better for rice university

My son in 9th grade took all level 4’s and 1 level 3 social studies at his school they don’t let you take AP classes. Then as a sophomore he took one AP class biology and one level 3 social studies. Level 3 just means college prep class and the rest honors. They pretty much didn’t offer Algebra 2 or pre-calculus as an AP Then as a junior he took AP statistics AP Calculus AB AP Latin and AP physics. plus social studies level 3 and English honors. Now his senior year he is looking to take AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry, AP Latin it is a two year course and AP psychology plus anatomy and physiology honors and English honors or he could take one less class (AP psychology) and take AP English instead of honors English. Which will look better 4 social sciences one being an AP or three social sciences and AP English. He wants to be a biology major and he also is on the Academic Decathlon team which will be like a 6 or 7 class depending on which way he goes If he takes AP English he will take one less class

I don’t think there’s really any difference. The admissions office won’t be looking at his class schedule with that level of scrutiny, so he should take whatever class is more interesting to him. Giving the impression of someone who is interested in their schoolwork and loves to learn is more important than balancing the number of each subject area of AP class. It will also contribute more to his growth as a person to take a class he finds interesting, which is arguably more important

Also, as a side note: no school offers AP Algebra 2 or Pre-Calculus. The AP curriculum is dictated by the College Board association, and they only produce tests for Calculus (AB/BC) and Statistics if you want to call that a math class.
