I want to go for PhD studies in future in Aerospace ( Flight Mechanics & Control ) and I also want to know which college has the best connection with NASA,Lockheed,Boeing ( in flight mechanics & control ) !!!
:)

I'm not really sure, but I think MIT, Purdue, GT, UM, and Caltech would all be good options.

Since I'm at GT (not Aero major though), I can comment that there was an article in the newspaper about a NASA astronaut landing here soon a few days ago or something. I didn't pay much attention to it, but it may mean something.

Are you U.S citizen? If not,you won't be able to do some high-level job there for security reason.

No, I'm not U.S citizen...!!! but i want to immigrate...and become a citizen.... I'm not concerned about being a citizen right now...!! I'm sure that won't be a problem!! There are more than hundred of Iranian Scientists that working in NASA!! like :

1.Firouz Naderi, Ph.D. NASA Scientist, Director of the Mars Exploration Program, visionary leader...
2.Abdollah Abtahi, Ph.D. Laser Physics, Radiation Physics, Sr. scientist and Systems Architect, NASA Earth Observing System, Raytheon Company, USA.
3.Akbarzadeh Totonchi Mohammad Reza, NASA Granted Researched (New Mexico University, USA), Former Partner of Prof. Lotfi A. Zadeh (Father of Fuzzy Systems and Soft Computing)
4.Mehran Anvari of McMaster University: Chief Scientific Officer for the NEEMO 10 mission, a joint project between the Centre for Minimal Access Surgery (which he directs), NASA and the Canadian Space Agency.
5.Payman Arabshahi, University of Washington, formerly with NASA JPL and Caltech
6.Jafar Arkani-Hamed of McGill University. Director of Research, NASA group Achievement Award, 1985.
7.Samad Hayati, NASA project manager.
8.Mohammad Heydari-Malayeri of the NASA Hubble Heritage Project
9.Mo Jamshidi, NASA senior scientist
and lot more....!

so please help me to select a good university:)
thank you Feez
thank you yucca

GT has good connections with Lockheed, and I know UWash in Seattle has great connections with Boeing. But Feez gave you a good set of schools to start out with.

In no particular order:

California Institute of Technology
Georgia Institute of Technology
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Purdue University-West Lafayette
University of Maryland-College Park
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
University of Washington

^^
You might want to add University of Florida for aerospace. It's not in the top 10; I think it's around 15 or so ... but it has a great relationship with NASA and Lockheed within the state of Florida.

zebes

I believe Rice University has some connections with NASA.

Maryland has good NASA relations. I would imagine that Johns Hopkins would also.

Weldon, I don't think JHU has an Aerospace Engineering department.

i think USC has solid connections with all those because they are all based so close. i know a lot of people intern at boeing and lockheed, i don't know about nasa

Ah! I missed the part about aerospace! Sorry.

True.

No, but you don't need to major in aerospace engineering to become an aerospace engineer... You could instead get your PhD in electrical engineering with some sort of emphasis in flight control, and go from there. Check out whether any of the profs at the schools you're looking at do flight control research, that'll be a good indicator of whether or not your degree would get you where you want to go, but don't necessarily restrict yourself to aerospace engineering.

What about Florida or Alabama?
Colorado School of Mines might be another suggestion.

Purdue!!!
its was ranked as defense companies' #1 favorite place to recruit.
most astronauts of any school.

I plan on doing the same thing!!! YEAH!

I'm a hiring manager for Lockheed, so I can help you out a bit. We have 27 schools on our "key school" list and about 50 others on our "target school" list...these are the schools we most heavily recruit at...it is not just the top 5 or 10 commonly mentioned on these boards. I will also mention your individual accomplishments in school (GPA, breadth of class work, skill-set, projects, internships, coops, interviews) are far more important than the school listed on your diploma. The same is true of all major aerospace companies I might add.

rogracer, can you list the 27 key schools and 50 target schools. I am sure many aspiring aerospace engineers would find it useful.

Seconding the request Alexandre made.

Yes, please do list

Everyone is sleeping on my hometown...Huntsville, Al.

University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) has great connections. Huntsville is home to the Army Aviation and Missile Command, NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, United Space Alliance, plus a multitude of other space industry, defense, etc companies.

Plus Huntsville is a great place to live. Look into it.
