Im interested in Biochemistry. I want to become a professor (so basically getting a PHD) but im not sure which college i should apply to. I have it narrowed to Cornell, JHU, Bowdoin, Bates, Yale, and Washington U in STL. Please help me decide which college i should apply to especially for early decision.
My stats are:
SAT 800 math, 640 verbal
SATII 800 math 2c, 660 Writing, 730 Chemistry
GPA 3.7 uw, 4.1 w
AP tests: 5 chemistry, 5 Envi Scis, going to take Bio, Calc BC, Physics, and English Ap test also.
ec's: NHS member, have an internship at a local science research lab, martial arts black belt, participating in local youth symphony as a 1st violinist, varsity chess club and our team won 3 rd in state and 1st in regional, Tennis JV team captin, and won local violin contest. Also have many awards such as scholars award. Violin Outstanding award and Black Belt for martial arts.

Also I take all the AP and Honors there are in my school (THere are only like 10 AP and honors combined so thats why my weighted wont go much higher).

If you want to find out which college is best for you, you should describe your personality and what you look for in a school, that will help people out a great deal

If you want to become a prof, go to a strong research institution that offers a lot of undergrad research opportunities. Cornell, JHU, Yale, and WUSTL fit that bill. You won't actually be doing any biochemistry until at least your junior year and you might find out that you hate it, so keep your options open.

I think you are making a huge mistake by applying early decision. If you have to ask which school to apply to early decision than you really don't understand the concept of ED. You should only use ED when you know in your heart a schools is your first choice, it has everything you want in it and more, you've visited and love it, and you are willing to attend regardless of the financial aid package they give you whether it's zero and you have to go in debt 100K+ by the time you graduate, or a full ride.

PS Martial Arts could easily be your hook into getting into any of these schools however you have to use it to your advantage. You have a black belt, but how have you used it to help others around you, and that could definetly be a factor in you getting in. If you demonstrate that you have used your skill/talent to help others, it won't matter if you applied ED you'd be a desirable candidate for college
