It’s okay guys, by the end of sophomore year he’ll have changed his major at least once anyway, so he’ll end up doing what he really wants to.

Hey I really appreciate all the feedback I’m getting! Keep it coming!

gogreek: I agree, it’s a bit extreme to claim that I’ll drop out, or that I shouldn’t be going to college just because I don’t exactly know what I’m going to do.

FallenAngel9: I certainly hope I end up studying what I really want to do!

All the Critics: I certainly undertand your concern. Once again, I’m using this as a starting point. I already compiled a list of majors that interest me (see 1st post). I don’t think there is anything wrong with choosing my major based off what sounds impressive to people, employers, et cetera.

It does seem like the math-oriented majors are impressing ppl the most. It does not suprise me that business and communications are getting little respect - mostly due to the perception that they are party majors. Once again, I’m enjoying reading everyone’s opinion so I’ll shoot the question again: what major (from my original list) sounds the most impressive/prestigious?

When I tell ppl that “I’m majoring in _____,” I want them to be impressed.

If you want to impress people, pick the most obscure major you can find.

Out of your list, geology and maybe biology, if you plan on going into field biology.
