Which college to use Early Action on?

Hi everyone, I’m a rising senior who is currently kinda stressed on which college to apply early action to. Just to let you know of my background, I’ve had a pretty rigorous course schedule along with extracurriculars which aren’t too bad. I was going to apply early action to one of the HYPS or MIT, and was wavering on which one to do. Of course I’ve looked at the statistics, and Princeton/Harvard has the highest acceptance rate for early action, but I’ve been taking online precollegiate courses through Stanford and have legacy (although it officially doesn’t matter) to MIT. I’m most interested in these 4 universities because they are some of the top for physics (my potential major), and was wondering how some of you might decide.

Just some pro/cons I have for applying early:

Stanford: Pro- already taking courses from them, know some professors well. Con- I already know 2 double legacy, major donators at my school who are basically guaranteed admission (their siblings both went to Stanford too), so that could lower my chances, as I’ve heard sometimes admission might come down to how many from a certain zipcode.

MIT: Pro- non restrictive EA, making me able to apply early elsewhere, unlike the others I’m listing. Legacy might help? Con- one of the lowest acceptance rates out of the 4, could basically be throwing my “silver bullet” away

Harvard: Pro- one of the highest acceptance rates for EA. Con- restrictive

Princeton: Pro- Legacy, high acceptance rate for EA. Con- restrictive

Tell me what you guys think please!

Honestly, the only reason admissions rates are higher for EA is that the applicant pool is very strong and considers recruited athletes within that. Applying early won’t really boost your chances, so I’d say go for the school you like the most.

Seconding @potatoprincess. Spot on.

Your best chance is Princeton because the legacy and EA will give you a boost. EA at Princeton, Harvard, Stanford does increase your chances, if you are qualified. MIT claims to pay no attention to legacy, but I don’t totally believe it based on who has been admitted in our area the last several years.

Non-binding EA would not help average applicant.

Thanks for all the responses!
