I’m choosing between 6 colleges that I got into: (in order of acceptance)
Rutgers New Brunswick
TCNJ (The College of New Jersey)
Johns Hopkins
University of Notre Dame
Brown University
New York University
I got waitlisted at Duke but I’m going to commit to somewhere else before they can get back to me, so I’ll probably not think too hard about it
So far the cost per year (with scholarship but no loans) looks like this:
Rutgers New Brunswick - ($17,129-$24,783 depending on which school I choose)
TCNJ (The College of New Jersey) - $20,906
Johns Hopkins - $20,710
University of Notre Dame – ?? (have yet to receive, but will probably be around $30,000)
Brown University - $30,490
New York University - $22,258
I am interested in becoming a doctor specializing in emergency medicine (like a physician working in the emergency room) but I’m thinking of majoring in psychology on a pre-med track. Thoughts on that would be welcomed too.
I wanted to stay near home (NJ) but I also think it would be good for me to experience living far away for once and become more independent I guess. I like the bubble-like universe of Rutgers that’s comfortable and like home but I think it would be good for me to live in a place like NYU where there’s no campus and it’s more like the real world so I can mature more.
I’m also conflicted on what would be best for me academically. I’m not even sure what really matters to me besides cost honestly. However, all the annual costs are kind of in a similar range…
