I am a senior applying to college. My major will be computer science. Here's my list.
My Sat math and reading is around 1200
combined score 1730 (I am taking the SAT one more time tomorrow.)
Gpa 3.2
I wrestle (this will be my 4th year). I played football for a year. Track for a year. I also take Brazilian Jiu jitsu. Just some extra info on me so that you guys understand some of my interests.

Basically I want to know what you guys think I should choose for computer science. Perhaps even rank them in what you guys think is the best for a computer science major and someone who enjoys wrestling. (sports in general).

If you guys have any ideas of other colleges for me to apply to feel free to do so. Thanks!
-Boston University - 50/50 chance
-North Eastern - 50/50
-Uconn - not sure
-Syracuse - not sure
-Hofstra University- probably
-Umass Amherst - probably
-Drexel University - probably

Let’s not think about where you should go, before you even apply. Just focus on doing your best on the applications, then decide when you see where you’re actually accepted.

You should add UMass Lowell -their CS is better than UMass Boston. UMass Boston has no dormitories and therefore no campus life - did you know that?
I think your chances are a little less than 50/50 for BU and Northeastern, but you should apply, they are not out of reach.
Do Northeastern and UConn have wrestling?

Do you plan to wrestle in college? I confess, I know some colleges have wrestling teams, but am not sure which ones and which divisions. Could it be a hook for you (are you good enough to wrestle at the collegiate level and be recruited)? Regarding which college to go to… don’t apply to any college you really would not be interested in attending. Make sure you have researched and visited them if possible before applying. Make up your mind where to attend once you see what acceptances you have and how the finances look at each.

Here is one college search engine that lets you search by NCAA division and sport. It might help create a list to start with if wrestling is that important to you.
Syracuse is certainly a school with lots of pride in their athletic teams especially basketball, but and I think hockey too.

On that basis NY is a sketchy town and yet many people want to attend college there. Maybe you should compare crime stats for the colleges you are considering.

The CS program at UMass Lowell is **great **and yes, Lowell can be sketchy in some areas, but that is true of college in any city. Drexel is in a worse area. My son originally didn’t even want to apply to UML but after learning more about their program, it went up near the top of his list, though he ultimately chose WPI. They have been building lots of new buildings, investing in science and engineering programs in particular, and have great partnerships with area high tech businesses.
Here is some info on developments over the past years:
[Transformation of UMass Lowell - Lowell Sun Online](http://www.lowellsun.com/umasstransformation)

But remember these represent the freshmen class, there is probably a bigger spread in **accepted **students. So it is definitely worth applying.

Note that you can usually find this information yourself by googling “Common Data Set” + the name of the school. Admissions data is section C.

Are you interested in participating in NCAA wrestling, club (NWCA) wrestling, or just watching? Syracuse had a great wrestling program until being discontinued in the 80s, but their other sports are worth watching. Binghamton would be better academically and have a wrestling team, but everything else is so-so. Lehigh would be a reach but maybe worth a shot. If you went to Ithaca, you could watch (or wrestle) the D3 team and be next door to Cornell.

As you know, wrestling is, by far, the hardest sport to combine with academics.

Good point, I think at UMass Amherst it is not part of engineering, but part of Natural Sciences (which is weird because it is not really a natural science) So that works in your favor
At some colleges it is part of engineering though.
