I am wondering about the dorms? I think right now seattle u is my top choice. But I am wondering about the dorms. Does anyone know the characteristics of each dorm? I want to live in a coed dorm (preferably with sinks).

For freshmen, there are three main housing options: Bellarmine, Campion, and Xavier. All have sinks, carpet, and all are co-ed (although there is one all women’s floor in Bell and one in Campion). Bellarmine and Xavier also come with a mini-fridge/microwave combo.

Campion has the most people of the three. Theme floors this year include eco-awareness, leadership, arts, wellness, and probably other things I can’t remember haha. Campion has a reputation for being the most social (or, the party dorm). The view from the upper floors is amazing.

Bellarmine has about half the residents of Campion. Theme floors include faith & great ideas and social justice. It has the most centralized location; it takes about five minutes or less to get anywhere else on campus and is closest to the main dining hall and library. I live in Bellarmine right now.

Xavier’s the smallest; there are only three residential floors. It’s the “global house,” so there’s a French/Spanish theme floor, a Global African Studies and general international issues floor, and a Japanese/Chinese floor. A lot of international students do live there, so I think Xav residents get satellite cable, or something. They also have the nicest kitchen by far and a really nice basement with lounging and study areas.

That’s kind of the typical fast run down. There are some more nuanced differences, and as a current student I’d be happy to answer those questions if you want! Best hopes!

looking at the campus map…it looks like campion is the farthest from everything, is it really that much further from the center of campus?
I kind of like campion because it is so big, but i just don’t want to be wayy far away from the main campus.

Also, is there some kind of work out facility?

Well here’s the thing with Campion’s distance: it is kind of the farthest, but 1) it’s not that much farther from the major places (like the dining hall) than Xavier and 2) it’s not that far, really, especially since campus is so small. The most it would take to get anywhere is probably about fifteen minutes. I come from Bell to Campion a lot for meetings, events, and friends, and it’s really not that bad. Plus since there are so many people, it’s not like you’re isolated or anything. There’s always a lot going on in Campion.

As for work out facilities, I think there’s just the main gym (Connolly Center) and courts, which is a couple blocks away from the main campus.
