Which Engineering should I do?

Hey guys, I'm currently a freshman at UIC (Univ. of Illinois Chicago) and I'm a chemical engineer. Over the last few months I've been doing research on what kind of engineering discipline I really want to pursue. I love chemistry and I'm good at it, so if I don't end up doing ChemE I'd probably get a minor(if that would mean anything). I'm currently debating between ChemE, Materials Science, and Electrical. I like Materials because it covers a wide range of topics and from what I've researched, typically has careers that offer low stress. I like electrical because one day I want to work for a technology firm (ChemEs can work for tech companies too, but there aren't as many positions) and it's very applicable to the real world. I've heard that engineers mostly utilize their skills in thermodynamics/physics rather than chemistry, and I'd like to utilize this knowledge somehow. I do plan on staying at UIC for a third semester to improve my GPA a bit, and transfer to the Urbana campus Spring 2015.

Any inputs or thoughts are appreciated!

Hi! I see you’re fairly new to CC. Are you familiar with the Engineering Forum? You might want to ask your question there. The forum has many knowledgeable posters including current students, recent grads, and industry professionals.

Of the three options you listed I would recommend EE. Electronics are used in just about everything now.
