Which for PreMed? - UNC-CH, UMaryland-CP, Boston U, Emory U, GWU?

Pre-med students should simply major in whatever they like best and what they’ll likely get the best GPA in.

Some might add that it might be wise to have a back-up career plan in case you change your mind about medical school or whatever.

All of the schools you listed at the beginning would be better than Boston College’s. They have okay, but not great science programs. They have very few research labs and get a small amount of research dollars. In addition, their internship policy makes it very difficult if you wanted to do an internship during the school year. If you want a more liberal arts experience Holy Cross has a great med school placement rate.

I would remove Boston University from your list (grade deflation and not a very strong pre-med program). Otherwise, these are all good schools to look into. You should add a few additional schools that are safeties and a few high reaches.

I’ve removed Boston University. I also have safeties and a high reach.

Are you applying to any SUNYs as financial safties? You should. Stony Brook and U Buffalo have very strong science programs, great instate cost and you will not be help back from applying to any med school.

FYI- My LI valedictorian son with high stats, 4.0 UWGPA, 12 AP’s etc, accepted to UNC. No merit money at all. Keep it in mind. You need a financial safely, whether SUNYs or a private school that gives great merit aid.
