Which GRE should I take?

I'll be applying for grad schools this fall and I'm not sure which version of the GRE I should take to ensure that my applications get sent in at an appropriate time. I can take the standard GRE test before August 1, 2011 or I can take the revised test on or after August 1, 2011. When do most people take the GRE? Sorry, I'm just completely clueless on this subject matter.

It depends on a couple things.
How is your math ability? The current GRE has high school level but tricky math problems and you cannot use a calculator. The new GRE will have harder math problems but you can use a calculator. Also, some of the questions will require an exact answer not multiple choice.

As for the verbal, the analogies will go away and there will be more reading comprehension. Do you like analogies or reading comprehension?

Additionally, there is tons of GRE prep for the current GRE. The new GRE questions will have considerably less.

I would take the current format, personally.
