Which Holds More Weight For ED: MCA score or SAT

As the ED decisions get closer, I’m really beginning to doubt my chances at Cal Poly. I’ve already been chanced but I’m wondering if anyone knows if MCA score outweighs a BAD SAT score. I got a 1530 on the SAT with the breakdown being 530 english, 440 math, 560 writing. The 440 math looks way too low for Cal Poly standards. However I’m applying as a packaging major that has a fairly high acceptance rate and my MCA score is 4100 (3.8 GPA, rigor points, extracurricular, summer job, parent didn’t graduate HS) . So could anyone shed light about whether Cal Poly cares more about test score averages or MCA score? Thank you very much.

They care about the MCA score. They use the SAT or ACT scores to help come up with the MCA score.

It’s all about MCA with a few exceptions. Poly has a minimum GPA and SAT threshold. I believe, but am not certain, that the math is 500. Make sure you have alternatives that you are comfortable with.

Thanks @Reef2Reefuser and @eyemgh I figured there was a SAT math minimum that I wasn’t considering. Kinda disappointing, but it’s good to know so I can apply to other schools before it’s too late.

It’s always important to have a few good options including 1 or 2 that you know that you will absolutely get into AND be able to afford, no matter how strong your stats are. Good luck.
