Which internship will help my chances the most?

I am planning on majoring in finance so I tried getting different internships to help my college resume. So far, I have been offered a 19 hr a week internship at washington mutual bank, but its a very demanding schedule so I dont know what to do. I also could work at Suffolk County National Bank (I live on Long Island) but it would be 2 days a week. If I choose SCNB, will it not look as strong on my application? But, if I work 5 days a week at WaMu, I wont have much summer to enjoy.

First, I commend you for seeking out summer internship opportunities available to you. Right away that shows colleges that you care about learning, working, and developing as a future "professional" in society. That being said, put yourself in the adcom's position, or for that matter, put yourself in the position of a potential employer. If you looked at an applicant's resume, would you want to see him working 2 days a week (I'm assuming that around 10-12 hrs.) or 19 hrs. per week. I would rather go with the 19 hr. man. I don't know how the 19 hrs. are spread out, but that is still not very much considering you have no scholastic commitments during the summer. Most internships are full time (40+ hrs.) so the way I see it, 19 hrs. seems like a pretty good deal. That's 2 hours a day if my math is approximately accurate. As far as "enjoying your summer" its all about what is important to you. If you aren't willing to sacrafice a couple hours each day for your resume, and ultimately, your future success as a businessman, maybe its not in your list of important things to do.

The 19 hr internship is around 3 hours a day for 4 weekdays plus 5 hours every saturday, ultimately equaling 19 total hours (when all is said and done.) However, this is a one year commitment, and will mean I will be working 5 days a week through my senior year. Would the other job still look good at top schools, or do I have to bust my butt through the most important year of high school?

That is really up to you. Personally, I would never work during the academic week (my High School schedule was always too demanding). I only had jobs that gave me hours on the weekend. I played sports and did clubs which all met after school. If you aren't doing anything with your after school hours, a three hour job might be a great way to boost your resume. If you are in French Club, Soccer, Student Council, Science Olympiad, and take 6 AP classes, a job might be the wrong way to improve your application.
