IB and AP are totally different. IMO, being an IB student really prepares you for college. AP tests are a lot of regurgitation of knowledge while IB actually has you apply that knowledge. /end IB/AP rant

Anyhow, I’m an IB senior and I’ll have to say that going to my IB school was a good decision. I know for sure I would’ve been top of my class @ my local high school, but 21/393 @ my current one isn’t bad either. Not to mention, I’m surrounded by an intellectual orgy of amazing students which only makes me want to try harder. Plus it makes me less arrogant that I would be at my local high school where I know I would be the best (although that’s a bit contradictory saying that ><). Anyhow, I’d say if you know you’re academically strong, you should go to the more rigorous school. It will prepare you for college and you’ll have a much better learning environment.

Well it’s beyond true at my public school. Smart people will thrive wherever they go. Parents should send their mediocre students to private schools - they will gain the most.

^One thing I like about SAT’s and ACT’s is that you can tell who the smart kids actually are without just gazing at their GPA. I’d rather be someone with a 3.6 or 3.7 and a 2200, than a 3.9 or 4.0 and 1800 or whatever.

@MattNC: You’ve won my complete respect for being a guy who seems to have his head screwed on right (at least, when it comes to that matter). And yes, I also agree with the SAT/GPA thing.

^^This is CC though, you’d be surprised how many people received scores less than 1800 let alone 2200 at my testing center. I heard a lot of 14,15,16,1700’s.
And thanks fledgling, I’m glad to grasp such honor. :D
