I really really want to get into Northwestern. I’m fine with majoring in either weinberg economics or mccormick mechanical engineering.
I know that both are very hard to get into, but I wanted to know which college/major would be relatively easier to get in.
I have pretty amazing ECs(but almost none of it relates to econ or engineering) and great grades, but my Act is very low… It is a 30(34 on math and 33 on science tho).
What does each college look more at during the admissions process?
Should I apply to engineering bc i have better grades on math/science?
I wouldn’t base your college experience based on what is “easier to get into.” Sure, you can switch once you’re in, but it won’t be easy. Go with your gut. What do you enjoy more?
I heard that changing from weinberg to mccormick or vice versa is pretty easy. And I honestly enjoy both, so I was planning on double majoring so it wouldn’t really matter which major I get i to.
^ yes, transferring is ridiculously easy. I don’t think any of us CC’ers actually knows based on factual evidence which of those majors is easier to get into, so my advice is to apply for whichever you have more interest for, the passion will shine through your written application stuff and you will therefor have a higher chance of getting in. Alternatively, you could apply for a dual degree, if you’re allowed to state that on your application. I’d only suggest doing that if you have essentially exactly equal interest in both majors though.
Tech and CAS applicants are all put in the same pool, so which of these you choose won’t affect your chances at all.
