Which is which for big tech companies

Hey everyone. So after my IT degree I want to get a bachelor’s in computer science with a concentration or minor in digital media design/graphic design, web design, or game design. My career goals is to intern and work for companies like Google, Pinterest, Skype, apple, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, snapchat, and so on and so forth. I was wondering what companies out of this list would best fit me if I get a job in IT, or design? And I will not do engineering. So what’s my best bet?

I don’t know about others but I did see jobs from Ggogle for IT, interns for IT to be more specific.

Slightly confused. If you’re going to be pursuing a BS in Computer Science, you’d probably want to do a cs internship. First, those are really what those companies are looking for, and you’ll probably be paid way better.

Not that IT internships are unheard of, but those companies tend to already be pretty strong in that department, particularly with the level of engineering knowledge employees have. I’m sure Google has internships for IT, but they’re definitely far fewer than in cs.

If you’re doing computer science, you should do a computer science/engineering internship. There’s no reason to relegate yourself to IT.

Update: The only returns on Google’s Career site for Network Engineering, Technical Infrastructure, and Technical Solutions internships (excluded the engineering categories) are:

Business Technical Intern
Quantitative Analyst Intern
Fall Business Internship

This is in contrast to the Software Engineering and Software Developer internships which are at the top of the list (and by far the largest programs).
