Which laptop should I buy?

I’m going to college(aerospace engineering) this fall. Any suggestions as to what laptop to buy? I’m definitely going in for a MacBook. Any suggestions on:

  1. What model to buy?
  2. What storage capacity?
PS: My budget is $1700.I also have a 15% discount in apple- my uncle works there- apart from the existing student discounts.

Did you ask your uncle what he would suggest if he knows the line of products???

Check with the engineering department, they may have specific program requirements.

@abasket My uncle asked me to choose between the 13 inch MacBooc air and the 13 inch MacBook Pro.He’s not sure about the storage though. What storage would be suitable for engineering? I want this laptop to last for at least 4 years.

I agree you need to check with your U’s engineering dept. They are the 1st place to ask. They may even have a great student price and the software you will need.

Both our EE son and cinema D bought heavy, expensive laptops. Both had their laptops break. Both chose to replace with very lightweight netbooks and a desktop with 2 monitors for the warranty money they received. They much preferred the lighter weight and dual monitors at home with the desktop let them use the netbook almost like a extra hard drive. Anyway, something more to consider.

Check with your school and see what they recommend for their engineering students. I know some of the upper level engineering students at DS’s found a Windows based system worked best for them and did not recommend the Mac’s.
