Which Liberal Arts College Should I Attend?

LSR, I didn't go to Discovery Weekend, I did an overnight during the preceding week (when it was more convenient for me). Some people said it was cool that I decided to come when it wasn't Discovery Weekend, and I actually agree that I got a more unfiltered view of the college.

Either way, I'm sure it was great, because I had a great time during the week.

Bump.........

How does Bowdoin's Economics department rank to other LAC's? Top 10 or below?

Or do you think it's exceptional ranking of #7 according to USNWR makes it a bit better than LACs ranked lower?

I don't think specific rankings among the top 20 or so LACs are particularly useful in the selection process. Bowdoin is no better or worse than, say, whatever school is ranked number 12 -- just different.

The key is to find the school that has the location and overall campus style that fits what you are looking for.

For example, if you want easy access to a city, then the Maine schools would all be "bad" choices for you, regardless of their ranking. Somebody who loves fraternity life would love Washington & Lee ("great" school); somebody who hates preppie fraternities would hate Washington & Lee ("horrible" school) -- but its "ranking" would still be the same.

Holy Cross, Davidson, Colgate, and Bowdoin. ALL have great academics and good social life/school spirit.
