I used to live in the PNW. I’m very fond of Whitman, Walla Walla and the surrounding area.
On the east coast, Warren Wilson (a [Work College](http://www.workcolleges.org/)) and UNC Asheville are very down to earth and quite strong in environmental studies. Orchestral offerings may be a bit lacking at Warren Wilson relative to more elite LACs, as they tend to focus on fiddle more than violin. (I adore Appalachian music, but it is not to everyone’s taste.) Both are located in Asheville, which combines a gorgeous natural setting with an artsy, quirky atmosphere.
For a larger option (~6100 undergrads), Ithaca College might work pretty well. It’s strong in environmental science and the arts and offers cross-registration with Cornell.
Closer to home, take a look at Willamette and Lewis & Clark for strong environmental programs.
Eckerd College has a wonderful environmental studies program with opportunities for research as freshman and internships. They offer music lesson to non-music majors. They have several student and mixed community/student music ensembles. There is an active theater group and a local theater company also uses the campus as their stage.
