Which major is the hardest?

The highest paying majors, which one deems the most difficult? Which one is the easiest?

  • Business/Finance/Accounting
  • Computer Science
  • Pre-Med
  • Nursing
  • Engineering

It all really depends on the person, but I think pre-med is generally one of the harder ‘majors’ (pre-med is not a major, it’s a group of courses needed to met the pre-reqs for med school) as most pre-med courses are curved and everyone is competing with each other for the highest GPA as grades are a huge factor in med-school admissions (at least for getting an interview).

Pre-med can be done with any major.

Business generally has lower workloads than engineering or science.

Pre-med students have the highest grade and GPA pressure. An engineering major with a 3.1 GPA is likely to work as an engineer after graduation. A pre-med with a 3.1 GPA is very unlikely to ever be able to practice medicine.

Why would you want to know? Can you possibly be trying to decide between all of these? And your decision criterion, apart from potential income, is which one is the easiest? Or is this just an argument with someone else about who has it harder as an undergrad? (To which the answer is, ‘it depends on what you are good at.’)

The hardest major is the one that your not interested in. If you have to force yourself to study or do your homework good grades will not come easy. Pick what you are interested in, not what someone else thinks is easy.
