Which major?

I'm going to be a Senior in high school next year, and I have yet to pick my major. I'm not sure whether to pick Chemistry or Prepharamacy as my major.

I had originally planned to major in prepharmacy, but I'm not really interested in any of the schools that offer it (except UCSD and USC), so I was wondering whether to major in chemistry.

In addition, what career options would I have for each respective major? and how much would such careers earn?

Maybe you should go to college first and see if you even like chemistry.

Shut up Jesus warrior.

Most universities don’t have a major that’s actually called ‘pre-pharmacy’ but rather, like pre-law and pre-med, it’s a guideline. Majoring in chemistry would be a good choice. But experiment with the sciences and see which you like the best.

No, I think I’ll keep talking. I’m a chemistry major, and it’s definitely not for everyone, maybe not even me. Chemistry in college is usually considered a weeder class because it can be difficult and because pre-med, pre-pharm, and pre-dental students need it. (AP Chem barely covered the first half of my freshman year.) So you can apply to college under whatever major you want, but keep an open mind and remember that you still have plenty of time to decide what you want to do with your life. If you still want to become a pharmacist, chemistry or biology would be a better choice than a pre-pharmacy major (if your school offers it) because you might have better luck finding a job if you don’t go to pharmacy school.
By the way, drudkh, I’m assuming that cute little comment was about my username. First off, it’s a little close-minded of you to assume that I’m a “Jesus warrior.” I could be Muslim or Jewish for all you know. Second, it’s actually a reference to a season 2 episode of Lost. Nothing to do with religion at all, really.

ohh…ok, but don’t you need a Pharm. D to become a pharmacist? or am I wrong in assuming that?

You do, but you don’t have to major in pre-pharmacy in undergrad to be accepted to a Pharm.D. program. I don’t know what the requirements are off the top of my head, but Google is your friend.
