New Carnegie Classification was released. It seems that they are going to add more than 100 new doctoral universities to their original doctoral universities. These new doctoral universities will participate into USNews National University Ranking next year. Can anyone guess which master colleges and bachelor colleges will become doctoral universities based on the new Carnegie Classification?
The Link is http://carnegieclassifications.iu.edu/ . Please leave your guess below.
Why would we be guessing? Seems like we should just wait and see what these schools are.
Will this make a difference in any way in terms of college admissions…or the like?
It’s absolutely important because new college applications begin.
I understand that when this new list comes out…it “might” be important to some people. Might be.
But I’m having trouble understanding how our guesses about this are going to help anyone…at all.
But carry on. Perhaps someone here is in the know and knows who really is going to change.
I see this as sort of like guessing how the USNews rankings might change from year to year…to plan college applications.
You can guess my opinion on the usefulness of that ?
Is whether a college at the margins of the Carnegie classifications in one classification or another important for a prospective student (particularly an undergraduate)? Moving to a different Carnegie classification based on changes in the definition of Carnegie classifications does not change what academic offerings the college has, nor its non-academic characteristics.
