Which of the Seven Sisters School is strongest in Art History & IR?

I am currently a freshman at a small liberal arts school in PA and am interested in transferring to one of the seven sisters but would like to know which ones are the strongest in art history and IR. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

Bump....anyone???

There are so many good ones! Smith and Vassar have very strong art history departments. The Pres. of Vassar for a long time was Frances Ferguson, one of the nation's leading art historians. Smith has a very strong museum, and is a mecca for Five College Students.

Over the past 5 years, Smith has led the nation among LACs in Fulbright scholars, which speaks to the strength of preparation and mentoring of IR students. There is no official IR major - it is a concentration within the Goverment Dept. There is also a Five-College Certificate Program in IR, which brings together the best scholars from each of the schools.

Thanks so much for your reply!

Bryn Mawr has an excellent art history department. (Actually, I'm not sure that Bryn Mawr is a Seven Sister. Close enough.) I don't know about their IR facilities but you could draw on Haverford and Swarthmore for backup. Barnard is another. Good program and excellent proximity to museums.

Not Seven Sisters, but other LACs that are good for art history -- in addition to Smith and Vassar mentioned above -- Skidmore, Conn College, Hamilton, Wesleyan, Bard. Williams is one of the best, but difficult for transfers.

Yes, Bryn Mawr is definitely a Seven Sister.

Wellesley's Art History department used to be, anyway, considered to be one of the best undergrad depts in the country.

Smith has an excellent Art History Department and many Smith graduates are in the industry.

Thanks everyone for all your replies :) Smith is my top choice. I really like that it is really strong in both government (IR) and Art History as I plan on having a career in government. I have fallen in love with Smith and really hope that I can transfer as I think it would be the perfect school for me. An old acquaintance of mine graduated from Smith with a BA in art history and she really liked Smith. It was actually a book that she introduced me to that sparked my interest in art and in particular art history. In regards to Bryn Mawr, one of my favorite art history professors got her M.A. and doctorate in art history from Bryn Mawr, which I know has a really strong art history department but I'm not a huge fan of the location as it is near my current college, but I haven't crossed it off my list yet.

the strongest in the nation for both subjects is JHU. maybe look there too?
